When Lili-Anne Brown and I first talked in August I walked away from the conversation thinking to myself: I desperately want to work with Lil on this show. I wasn’t disappointed. This was a challenging show all around, from a cast of 15 featured characters (no ensemble!), to another 15 people playing some of the most complex big band arrangements imaginable. It was a lot for an Encores! schedule, but so unbelievably rewording. From the top down everyone came in with kindness and playfulness, and a desire to kick some ass. Despite being an Encores! production, this show went so far and above the concept of a staged reading into a fully produced powerhouse.

The sound team was some of the best folks in the business. Liz Coleman mixing, Alex Brock as my associate, and Kate and Heather wrangling the backstage chaos.
